Commonly used 210D checkered waterproof polyester fabric, weight 60-80GSM, only requires surface water-resistant beads, no need for high water pressure resistance; no wear resistance is required, low usage frequency, suitable for short-term outdoor use. Shortcomings: Water infiltration under long-term stretching and rainstorm conditions, not suitable for wearable outdoor equipment.
The core requirements for outdoor jacket fabrics are: water repellent, breathable, and resistant to rubbing, while also providing comfort for sports. Tasilong and high-density pongee are often chosen, paired with PU moisture-permeable film, which not only blocks rainwater but also allows the moisture generated by human movement to escape. The fabric needs to be resistant to tearing, with no film peeling off after repeated folding and friction. The water pressure resistance should be above 3000mm, suitable for long-duration outdoor activities such as hiking and mountaineering.
Core requirements for camping tent fabrics: high water pressure resistance, anti-aging, wear resistance, and tear resistance. The bottom layer is mostly made of thickened Oxford cloth or checkered waterproof cloth, with a thicker waterproof coating/PU film and added UV-resistant additives. As tents are exposed to long-term outdoor exposure, the fabrics need to be UV-resistant and not prone to embrittlement. The bottom fabric also needs to provide additional protection against water infiltration from the ground and damage from friction.
